Robert Villanueva was born in Alaska but has lived most of his life in Kentucky.  After graduating from Western Kentucky University with a BA in journalism, he worked for seven years at various local newspapers in positions ranging from staff writer to news editor.  During his career as a journalist, he earned nine Kentucky Press Association awards for news, features, columns and photos as well as the First Place award for Feature Writing from Landmark Community Newspapers, Inc.

Villanueva's short stories, essays, articles and poems have been published in Return of the Raven anthology, GlassFire anthology, Trillium Literary Journal, The Binnacle, The Summerset Review, Joful!, ShatterColors Literary Review, Cantaraville, Contemporary Rhyme, The Sylvan Echo, The Square Table, AbsoluteWrite.com, C/Oasis, The Heartland Review, The Louisville Eccentric Observer, Snitch, Bluemountain.com, Writer's Digest Magazine, Write Choice Journal and Scavenger's Newsletter.  He is currently seeking representation for his first completed novel, a literary thriller set in Kentucky.  Additionally, he is working on a second novel and a collection of short stories.
